Put the addon’s own folder inside the intended client’s Interface/AddOns directory, with its TOC file directly inside that folder.
Find the client you actually launch
If you have several WoW installations, start with the game installation you use for WoW Forever. Do not assume a Retail, Classic, or beta directory is the right target just because it is already on your computer.
Locate that client’s Interface folder and its AddOns directory. Use the folder names from your installed client; an installation path copied from someone else’s machine may point to a different game version.
Install the downloaded ZIP
In your ForeverMods project, choose Download ZIP. Extract the archive, then copy the addon folder into Interface/AddOns. The folder containing the TOC file is the one you want.
- Close the game before your first installation.
- Extract the ZIP rather than copying the ZIP file itself.
- Copy the addon folder into the correct Interface/AddOns directory.
- Launch the intended client and enable the addon in its addon list.
- Log in and test the addon’s controls and saved settings.

MyQuestNotes.luaUse Install to WoW when your browser supports it
ForeverMods can write the generated files into a folder you explicitly select. Choose Install to WoW, select the game folder requested by the installer, review the destination, and allow access. Browser permissions are required; a website cannot silently choose and modify your game directory.
If the folder picker is unavailable in your browser, use the ZIP method. Both options install the same generated addon source. Keep your own backup of an existing addon before replacing it with a changed version.
If the addon does not appear
First check the folder path and nesting. Then check that the TOC file exists and lists the Lua file using the same spelling and capitalization. Restart the client after adding a new addon folder.
An out-of-date warning and a Lua runtime error are different problems. Updating a manifest’s interface number does not repair missing functions or changed game APIs. If the addon appears but errors when enabled, capture the error text and review compatibility before changing more files.
Check it after a reload
Move the addon, change a setting or note, and reload the interface. Confirm that the addon returns where expected and that its saved data remains. For a guild tool, ask another member to test the same version before you share it widely.
Downloaded addon files remain usable after a ForeverMods subscription ends. Keep a ZIP of the version you use in game so you can return to it while experimenting.
